How does music affect the culture of a company?

When you call some companies, you sometimes hear music before getting through to an employee. Also, at some shops, you hear music when entering the store. I’d like to ask you if you think it matters which kind of music the company plays for its (potential) customers, and/or if it matters which sound quality the music, you experience, has.
