Why? Because in Chennai, where I will be from January to March 2020, many people eat with the right hand. <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">In the learning process, I picked up a few useful tricks:

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Try with the tip of your fingers to form, what you eat, into a little ball.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Use your thumb to push the food from the tip of your hand into your mouth.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Keep the palm of your hand untouched by food.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Use your thumb to clean your hand.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Avoid licking your fingers.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Avoid using your left hand to eat. Why? Because the left hand is used primarily when you go to the toilet. Use your left hand to drink.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

I experience that both in terms of how technology is used and how moderation is done, Innov8rs is moving well forward.

This week, Innov8rs Connect, a free online event, takes place. The first webinar, I tuned in for, focused on trust. And it certainly did not disappoint. Both the expert, Philipp Kristian Diekhoener, and the moderator, Hans Balmaekers, conducted a wonderful jam session, during which questions, ideas and knowledge ping-ponged back and forth so well that it sounded like great music in my ears.

After the webinar, I was still so excited about what happened that I decided to update research I did about Trust some time ago.
Warum?
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

Was meine ich damit?
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Fixing time of weekly meeting
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Among participants in the Working out loud week 0 meeting there was, relatively quickly, agreement that fixing a time <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">for the weekly meeting<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> at the start of the 12 weeks process is a good idea - not least in order to avoid spending too much time on planning. During a relatively short verbal exchange, 4 days of the week were quickly excluded, as these were not optimal times for participants to meet. After a few minutes, we had settled on a specific day and time of a week to have our weekly weekly meeting over 12 weeks. We also agreed that when minimum 3 of the 5 circle participants can participate in a meeting, the meeting will take place.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Rotating facilitator role and rotating timekeeper role
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Among participants in the Working out loud week 0 meeting<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> there was, within a relatively short time, agreement that it would be meaningful to let the roles of facilitator and timekeeper, which are mentioned in the week 0 circle guide, rotate among us.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Use of WhatsApp group, Google docs and Skype for communication
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Suggestions came up to use Skype, WhatsApp and Google Docs for communication during and between meetings. <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">On the use of these technologies for communication, there was also agreement. Positive about the use of Skype, for example, is that when a person would like to participate in a meeting and, at the same time, would like to save time / costs for transportation, Skype can be helpful. From our exchange about t<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">he use of technologies for communication, I also remember that the will to avoid too much use of e-mail was relatively strong.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Language to use for communication
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Speaking about which language would be best for each one of us to use for communication among us, we found out that German is the language, which everyone feels well using.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Time to use for preparation
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">A question we also discussed during the week 0 meetings was how much each person wants to prepare for the weekly meetings. In this regard, I recall that, in essence, each person is responsible for his or her own personal development, for example by setting his or her own goal. What I also recall is the point that each meeting is one hour, and that the circle guides for each of the meetings include various questions to be talked about.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Concludingly, I got the impression from the Working out loud week 0 process that the above mentioned aspects are important for members of a Working out loud circle to exchange views about during this starting up period.
Questions from week 1 to week 6<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">To view the circle guides for the weekly meetings you have each week for 12 weeks, click here. Here are some of the questions to think about in the first 6 meetings:
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Week 1: Attune your attention

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Why did you join a Working Out Loud circle?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What is your learning goal for the next 12 weeks?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What people do you know whose interests are related to your goal?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Week 2: Offer your first contributions

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What happened since the last meeting?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What is the level of intimacy to each of the people, you wrote down during the week 1 exercise? 1. The person doesn’t know you exist.
2. You are connected in some way with the person. For example, you follow the person on social media. 3. You have had one or more interactions with the person.
4. You have collaborated, even in a small way.
5. You regularly interact, exchange ideas, and help each other.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Try holding the door for a person you do not know. Then ask yourself these questions: Why did you decide to hold that particular person? How did you feel holding the door for the person?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Week 3: Take three small steps

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">How do you feel about your goal? How much do you care about it? To what extent does your goal spark your curiosity?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What times will you schedule in your calendar to work on your goal?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What communities will you join that are shared by people, who have goals that are related to your goal?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Which person would you like to thank in private for something he / she did or said? Which person would you like to thank in public for something he / she did or said?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What will you do before the next Working out loud Circle meeting?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">When you google yourself, how much of your best work is visible?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Week 4: Earn someone else's attention

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">How do you feel about the process and your progress so far?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Try to think about a situation during which a person acted with little or no empathy. How did you feel in the situation? What your reaction? To what extent can you - in a situation like this - use a pause button before you react, i.e. take 3 breaths, name for yourself the emotion you are feeling and continue doing what you do.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">When you share a blog posting, video or book with other people, for example using social media, to what extent will you mention why you thought of them specifically in relation to what you’re
sharing?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What will you do before the next meeting?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Week 5: Make it personal

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">How do you feel about your goal and the progress you are making towards your goal?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Try to write 50 facts about yourself. Write down as many things you can that make you you. Help your circle colleagues see the gifts they can offer and who might benefit from them. Help people add to their lists.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What will you do before the next meeting?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Week 6: Improve your visibility

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What did you do since the last meeting?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Search for yourself on the Internet. List all of the profiles that you find, for example LinkedIn and Twitter.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Update / improve your main profile on the Internet, for example LinkedIn.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Look at your Cirlcle members' profiles on the Internet. What questions / ideas do you have?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">When you connect with people on the Internet, for example using LinkedIn, make a personalized invitation by writing a message.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What will you do before the next meeting?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
"Working Out Loud is a way to build relationships that can help you in some way, like achieving a goal, developing a skill, or exploring a new topic. Instead of networking to get something, you invest in relationships by making contributions over time, including your work and experiences that you make visible. When you Work Out Loud, your contributions over time build trust and deepen a sense of relatedness, increasing the chances for cooperation and collaboration. You're more effective because you have access to more people, knowledge, and opportunities that can help you. You feel better too, because your bigger network of meaningful relationships give you a greater sense of control, competence, and connection. You’ll almost certainly learn more about what you want and what you have to offer. All of this leads to more motivation for individuals, and to more agility, innovation, and collaboration for an organization.”
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">To get started with Working Out Loud, try these steps:

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Build a Working Out Loud circle with 3 to 4 other people.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Each person chooses his or her own goal that he or she cares about.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Meet 1 hour every week for 12 weeks. Plan time and location of all 12 meetings ahead of time.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">If 1 or 2 people cannot attend a meeting, have the meeting anyway and help them catch up at the next meeting.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Use a circle guide<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> for the meeting you have every week.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Choose, for every meeting, a facilitator who schedules the meeting and helps people have a good experience.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Choose, for every meeting, a timekeeper who keeps things moving during the meeting.

Ermotti about sustainable development goals (SDGs) and about the initiative #togetherband. Having been curious for some years about values and purpose - including what questions to ask to define purpose - and having worked in a variety of ways on SDG # 4 Quality education, I was really happy to read this posting by Mr. Ermotti.

Before I get too positively excited about this great #togetherband initiative, I need to admit openly that not least due to the extremely high wages of employed managers working for banks, I almost lost hope. In fact, the very high wages of employed managers working for banks made me feel sad, angry and disappointed. Why did the very high wages of employed managers working for banks make me feel sad, angry and disappointed? 2 reasons:

Reason number 1:
Income inequality has significant implications for growth and macroeconomic stability. It can concentrate political and decision making power in the hands of a few, lead to a suboptimal use of human resources, cause investment-reducing political and economic instability and raise crisis risk. Source.

Reason number 2:
60 years of a hyper-individualistic first-mountain culture have weakened the bonds between people. They’ve dissolved the shared moral cultures that used to restrain capitalism and the meritocracy. Source. By accepting extremely high wages, employed managers working for banks have chosen to strengthen this taker culture.

The #togetherband initiative strengthened my belief that employed managers working for banks want to give much more and want to work on initiatives which are bigger than we all are. Thank you for this and thank you for strengthening transparency / openness as well as inclusion and participation - not least by sharing what you do using social media.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

3 Ideen:

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">"P<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">sychological safety" fördern.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

I was curious to learn more about this as it is a topic I have looked into myself, for example here and here. As some point in the chat, Daniela mentioned this in a tweet:
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">How about teaching less content and being more patient? We can create learning experiences in which students are producers, not just consumers, of knowledge. And we can facilitate meaning making without delivering the answers.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">These ideas by Daniela made it particularly interesting, I found. And reflecting on what Daniela wrote, I almost instantly thought about Hal Gregersen's work on asking questions. And I was so happy, as Hal Gregersen mentioned growth mindset in this tweet. Why did it make me happy? Because I find that Carol Dweck's book Mindset is one of the better books I have read.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">One of the several aspects about Growth Mindset, which I like, is what we can say and questions we can ask to help children and others to develop growth mindset - a topic which Carol Dweck touches on around page 176. Here are five examples:

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I like the way you tried different ways of finding solutions to that problem.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I admire how you concentrated as you did the work you did.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I was impressed about the time and energy you invested to better understand this issue. Your improvement shows it.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I found you showed great passion as you worked on improving that skill. How do you feel about how you worked?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Everybody learns in a different way. Let's keep trying to find out what learning strategies work for you.

<span style="color: #181818; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Reading Maria Popova's great posting about Growth Mindset, which Hal Gregersen sent a link to in his tweet<span style="color: #181818; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">, I read that at the heart of what makes the growth mindset so winsome is, Dweck found, that it creates a passion for learning rather than a hunger for approval. In a growth mindset, the internal monologue is not one of judgment but one of voracious appetite for learning, constantly seeking out the kind of input that you can metabolize into learning and constructive action.

Two examples:

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">A young student, who was clearly frustrated about how education was being done and strongly wanted to change the way education is done, explained that with his friends, he initiated and facilitated an innovation workshop at a school. The young people realized that teachers need to be trained to innovate.

A teacher explained that with some young people, he created and published a paper. In the process, they involved more companies.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
During the event I also learned about significant challenges. For example, Jakob Widmer explained that in some Swiss schools, neither teachers nor students are allowed to make mistakes. A teacher I spoke with echoed this point by Widmer and explained that not being allowed to make mistakes and/or being punished for making mistakes creates fear and keeps both students and teachers from trying ideas out. The result: Both teachers and students do only what they must do - and nothing else. That makes them feel safe. A large number of continuous tests and distribution of grades put everyone under external pressure. The problem: Neither initiative, courage nor creativity are trained. Intrinsic motivation hardly exists.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">At this event in Bern, I was deeply sorry to hear about these cultural problems in some Swiss schools and decided to approach Widmer to learn about the sources of this fear that some Swiss teachers apparently have of trying of ideas / new ways of doing education. In fact, I almost shed a tear of this total lack of learning culture and innovation culture in some Swiss school communities. Why are people not allowed to make mistakes in some Swiss schools, I asked Jakob Widmer at the event in Bern. What is blocking teachers and students from trying out ideas? Widmer was very clear in his response: He explained that it has to do with the Swiss social security system which he found is currently not working properly. Much more homework needs to be done here was, as I understood it, the message by Widmer to us all.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Why is it important that people find a purpose and search for meaning?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Pages 19 - 22: Authenticity has become the gold standard of leadership. To be authentic, find and live your values and purpose, lead with your heart, establish connected relationships and demonstrate self discipline. Authentic leaders are constantly growing.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Page 68: The most important element of leadership is having a clear purpose that makes your life meaningful.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Page 83: Over many years, Bill George thought he had to be perfect and not show vulnerability. When he was in his forties, Bill George realized that vulnerability is strength - not weakness. He started opening up and communicating about his mistakes, weaknesses and fears. The result of this change of thinking and behaviour was that he felt better and improved relationships with others.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Page 105: If you are a teacher, do not go into a classroom, unless you really want to learn from students.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Page 135: The best innovators are rule breakers, who don't fit the corporate mold. They are often threatening to middle managers, who follow standard practices. That's why leaders must protect projects, budgets, and careers of innovators.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">How does a person find a purpose?

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Page 44: Turning a painful event in your life into a growth experience can show you the way to your life's purpose.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Page 46: When Bill George was 10, Bill's father told Bill that he wanted him to become the leader he had failed to be. Later, as Bill was in high school, he got the feedback from fellow students that he was moving so fast that he didn't have time for other people. That helped Bill George to realize that he was seeking titles to gain people's esteem rather than helping other people.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Page 76: Thinking about what you learned from disappointments, you had in the past, can help you to grow.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Idee # 1
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Akzeptiere was du fühlst. Kämpfe nicht dagegen.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Idee # 2
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Idee # 3
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Schreibe auf deinem Blog darüber was du erfahren hast - und was deine Gedanken und Gefühle sind. Indem du schreibst, hilfst du dir selber sowie anderen Menschen.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Idee # 4
Angst.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Idee # 5
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Vorbereite dich auf das was du machen wirst. <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Idee # 7
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Idee # 8
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Hilf anderen Menschen. Wenn du darauf fokussierst zu geben, wirst du weniger unsicher.<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
